Keyword Research Using PPC Web Spy Free Edition

By Keywords

I was recently invited to download and test Brad Callen’s new PPC Web Spy Free Edition and I have to say that I was extremely impressed. Brad Callen and his team are the makers of such popular software offerings that include SEO Elite, Keyword Elite as well as Affiliate Elite. I am a huge fan of each of these software titles but in my opinion PPC Web Spy blows them all of them out of the water for two reasons; Number 1, because it is absolutely free. Number 2, because even someone who is not using PPC (pay per click) for their internet marketing can use PPC Web Spy Free Edition to improve ranking and organic search results and still drive tons of traffic to their website. How you ask?
By using PPC Web Spy as a simple keyword research tool of course. First let me tell you a little bit about PPC Web Spy Free Edition. It is a small Mozilla Firefox add-on that allows you to spy on and get any Adword advertisers keywords that they use to drive traffic to their website. Doing this is extremely simple, you just search Google for any keyword or keyword phrase as you normally would, and after installing PPC Web Spy Free Edition you will notice that a green “Keywords” button appears under each Adwords ad. Clicking this button will open a window that displays the keywords that they are bidding on, exactly which keywords are generating the most traffic, as well as the average cost per click (CPC) and the cost per day (CPD) to the Adwords advertiser. What does this mean for you? You will immediately have knowledge of the most profitable keywords for your own campaign by eliminating the useless keywords, saving you days, weeks or even months of trial and error. The chances are that the Adwords advertiser wouldn’t be spending money on a specific keyword phrase unless it was profitable. But what about the promise to improve ranking and organic search?
This takes only a few seconds, and I will walk you through a simple example using the PPC Web Spy Free Edition add-on. Open up your internet browser and do a Google search for the phrase, “comic books” and you will discover that there are 23,000,000 search results returned for that keyword phrase. The popular Wiki entry is in the top spot as usual, but there are also a number of Adword advertisers there as well. In my browser I can click on the green “Keywords” button under the first advertiser and see that “comic book” is indeed a phrase that they have bid on, and that they obtain 16 visitors a day at a cost of just under 5 dollars a day for their Adwords ad. However the other important information I have now is that they also get 13 visitors a day by bidding on the search term “spiderman comics” which costs them just under 3 dollars a day. Guess what? Using your internet browser do a Google search for “spiderman comics” and note how many search results are returned this time. That’s right, only 61,700 results and a lot easier to compete against than 23,000,000 for almost the exact same number of daily visitors. This is also targeting a very specific niche, because you have a better chance of selling a “spiderman comic” to someone that actually typed that exact phrase into Google. Still not sure what this means to you?
If you want to use a PPC strategy you can get those 13 visitors to your website right away, or with a little on-page optimization, link building and directory submissions using “spiderman comics” as the anchor text to link to your website or even a free webpage, you have a much better chance appearing in the top 10 search results in Google and bringing in a large amount of targeted traffic interested in buying “spiderman comics”. Of course this was just an example, but it can be used for absolutely any niche and again the best part is that PPC Web Spy can be downloaded absolutely free. Try it for yourself using your own niche keyword phrases and see what you uncover.
