They say that a picture is worth a thousand words… How about a picture that GIVES you words? Of the many free keyword research tools available online, KWBrowse is the only one I’ve found that gives you a visual representation of your keyword research. For those of us who are a little more right-brained, this is a delightful respite from the boring lists and puzzling numbers returned by some of the other keyword generators.

Here’s how it works…

Once you are on the site, you will find a search box – enter your first term and click the kw search button. KWBrowse rewards you with an attractive visual display of its suggested terms.

When you look at the image, you will see two intersecting branches, or curved axes, with nodes on them. The intersection point is the keyword you entered. One axis displays words that include your primary term. The other axis shows related terms that do not use the search word.

An example would be the search term, “consulting.” One axis returns

The sweet thing about this tool is that you can click on any of the suggestions and get a new display for that phrase – a whole new set of keyword ideas. Keep going and mine the gold!

Additionally, KWBrowse provides you with a nice alpha-sorted list of its suggestions. It includes more than the ones shown on the image, too, so don’t ignore it. Click any of those and you’ll get another new image with that term at the center.  There is no export function, but you can highlight the list and then do a copy/paste into another program.

One caveat… In the FAQ section it says, “We try to place the most relevant keywords in the middle.” However, as I cross-checked the words displayed for the search “consulting” in both WordTracker and the Google AdWords Tool, I couldn’t find a consistent pattern for the search volumes. So “relevancy” may be a “relative” term.
